So Kon gets fic. Which is hopefully :D, but at worst :/ I think, so still an improvement. I hope.
When Buffy got home, she found Kon at his desk with his head on the keyboard of his laptop.
That wasn't encouraging.
"Hey," she said, pulling her bag through the window. "Kon?"
"I hate course requirements," commented Kon, without lifting his head.
"English paper, huh?"
"Discuss what is gained or lost when a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream uses the same actors from the Athenian Court for the fairy court. Does it give the play a deeper level of meaning?" he quoted.
"Richardson's Shakespeare class?"
"It was the only one that fit with my labs."
She walked over to rub his shoulders. "I thought you were gonna take something else next semester."
"My advisor told me to go to the first meeting. That one didn't seem that bad."
He finally lifted up his head to look at her, which instantly brightened his mood, judging from the way he smiled. "Hi Buffy."
"Hey. Sorry for the long time no see, but demons who fight during the day makes all work and no play for Buffy."
"Sorry I couldn't help out."
"It's a new semester. New semester is a beyond valid excuse. You eat yet?"
"There anything in the apartment you could eat?"
"I went shopping yesterday."
"Cool," she smiled, leaning down to kiss the top of his head. "I'll handle dinner, you try to get beyond the introduction."
"I did," he said, aiming for petulant but still looking happy to see her. "See?"
She leaned over his shoulder to read the screen. "The Athenian court, to begin with, is DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE ARGH. Very compelling argument."
"I'm working on it."
"No lasers, right?"
"I figured that out years ago."
She kissed him on the temple and gave him a quick hug around the shoulders. "I'm gonna go see what we have for cooking."
"Cool," he said, grinning.
She puttered around the kitchen, but didn't hear the typing start, which was a little worrying. Still, Kon was surprisingly responsible. Well, surprising to some people. She had always known he had it in him. So she wasn't worried he wouldn't finish.
"How're other classes?" she asked, putting on the water for macaroni and cheese. It wasn't glamorous, but it was fast and easy.
"Pretty good," he said. "I'm getting a lot more freedom in my bio and chem classes."
"And no more fires?"
She smiled. "Uh huh."
"Did you get to go to work at all while you were gone?" he asked.
"I said there was a death in the family. Hopefully I don't have too many more non-night slaying issues, or I'll run out of family members. And I'd rather not get fir..." she trailed off as Kon wrapped his arms around her from behind.
"Hey," he said, grinning.
"You have a paper," she pointed out, making no effort to move and snuggling against him.
"Not due til Tuesday," he pointed out. "And I missed you."
"I was wondering about that."
"Well, you know, I figured if you were working on your paper so hard you maybe didn't notice I was gone."
"And I figured that was good. Cuz I'd feel terrible if I knew I was hurting your productivity."
"I'm being very productive. Do you need your shirt to cook?"
"Not really. I'm not having sex with you til you finish at least three paragraphs."
He pouted, which was a pretty compelling argument. "Tuesday."
"You need time to edit."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
"Can I do the three paragraphs after dinner?"
"Yeah. But still no sex."
"I'll think of something."
